Margaret Ruth Clayton Laney

Margaret Ruth Clayton Laney, 62, died Saturday, September 13, 2008, at her residence in Nettleton. A Belden native, she was born May 29, 1946 to Marshall and Mabel Farrar Clayton. She was raised in Belden but moved to Shannon with her family where she graduated from Shannon High School in 1964. With over 40 years in the furniture industry, she begin her career with Futorian and was one of the original employees that begin with Action Industries from its inception. She was a member of Limestone Baptist Church. She loved fishing and working in her flowers. She loved hats and wore them all the time, even to work.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Gary Carroll, Rev. Mike Reeves, and Rev. Mike Brazeal officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery west of Belden.

Survivors include two sons, Jackey Laney and his wife, Ramona, of Peaceville Valley and Shane Laney and his wife, Mary, of South Prentiss; one daughter, Shelia Laney Clayton and her husband, Ronnie of Fulton; two brothers, Buddy Clayton of Belden and Johnny Clayton of Mooreville; five sisters, Joann Sandoval of Verona, Bobbie Holder of Eggville, Sue Jackson of Plantersville, Frances Coates of Salina, Kansas and Teresa Reeder of Tupelo; three grandsons, Justin Laney and his wife, Alisha, Jake Laney, and Tyler Laney; two grandaughters, Cassondra Clayton and Rachael Laney.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Andy Laney; a sister, Shirley Ann Clayton, her grandparents, Ben and Lillian Clayton and Henry and Irea Horton Farrar.

Pallbearers will be Justin Laney, Jacob Laney, Jeff Knowles, Phil Holder, Robert Holder and Anthony Franklin. Honorary pallbearer will be Tyler Laney.

Visitation will be 5 - 9 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2008 at the funeral home.
