NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. - Marcelle B. Travis, 78, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at her home in Florida after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 20, 1928, in Rabat, Morocco, to the late Levi and Rica Bensoussan. She had lived in Verona for many years. She was a homemaker and beloved mother and Mamaw.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Paul Sims officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie Travis, with whom she resided in Florida; two daughters, Linda Scruggs Horn (Mike) of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Joyce T. McKinney (Pete) of Nettleton; four granddaughters and four grandsons; 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis A. Travis; two sons, Jerry D. Travis and Johnny L. Travis Sr.; and two grandsons.
Pallbearers will be Richard and Shayne Scruggs, Pete, Chuck and Jason McKinney, and Mike Horn.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
