Mamie Young

VeronaMamie Annalee Young, 90, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at the Sunshine Health Care, Inc. in Pontotoc after an extended illness. She was born in Lagrange, Tenn. on May 15, 1920, to James David Caldwell and Ester Ruth Downs Caldwell. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Verona where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. David Hamilton and Dr. Gary Roberson officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Wood (Gary) and Vicki Mears (David), all of Tupelo; three sons, James Young of Saltillo, Ralph Young (Barbara) of Quitman, and ONeil Young (Katy) of Pontotoc; ten grandchildren, Kenneth Young, Elizabeth Priest (Ed), Matthew Young (Shanna), Greg Wood (Paula), all of Saltillo; Dr. Tom Wood of Jackson, Tenn., Rebecca Miller (Todd) of Tupelo, Lennie Schilling (Ryan) of Hattiesburg, Shellie White (Jordan) of Pascagoula, Kevin Mears of Tupelo, Anna Marie Young of Fulton; fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 71 years , Albert Herman Young; one son, Murry Young; two daughters-in-law, Margaret Young and Dee Young; four sisters, Pauline Hargrove, Ruby Wimberley, Irene Grant, and Dorothy Murray; two brothers, Creed Caldwell and James Caldwell, Jr.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law.

Visitation will be 5- 8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the funeral home.
