MOOREVILLE - Mamie Riggs Collins, 94, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at the Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory after a lengthy illness. A Walker County, Alabama native, she was born Jan. 12, 1913, to the late Willis Andrew and Lovie Edna O'Rear Webb. She was a longtime Lee County resident where most of that time she resided in Mooreville. She was a cook for a good number of years with the Holiday Inn in Tupelo and later cooked at the Tupelo campus of Itawamba Community College. Her first husband, Marshall Riggs, preceded her in death Aug. 17, 1982. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She was known for her gift of conversation and she enjoyed quilting, embroidery and gospel singings.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with David Layman and Calvin Warren officiating. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery in Itawamba County.

Survivors include her husband, W.D.. Collins of Amory; three sons, Billy Riggs (Mavis) of Nettleton, Glen Riggs (Barbara) of Tupelo and Jimmy Riggs (Elaine) of Mooreville; one stepson, Terry Collins of Lucedale; one brother, Willis Webb (Delores) of Jasper, Ala.; one sister-in-law, Nettie Webb of Jasper, Ala.; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; a daughter, Betty Jewel Riggs, who died Aug. 23, 1950; a grandson, Terry Riggs, who died Aug. 19, 1980; four sisters, Cora Wisenhunt, Rosey Davis, Ruby Burgett and Madline Stanford; and one brother, Charlie Webb.

Pallbearers will be Mike Riggs, Brian Riggs, Darren Riggs, Darel Nicholson, Chris Herndon and Pat Riggs.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
