TUPELOMaggie Elizabeth "Trixie Blackwell, 88, died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at her sons residence after an extended illness. A Noxabee county native, she was born March 19, 1917 to the late Benjamin and Lena Chambers Little. She had been a resident of Tupelo since 1938. She went to high school in Cooksville, and attended East Mississippi Junior College and Draughns Business College. Along with her late husband, Leon, they owned and operated Leons Caf in downtown Tupelo for over 30 years. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Gayle Alexander and Rev. Rick Ball officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Blackwell Sheffield; two sons, Ron L. Blackwell and wife, Frances, and David L. Blackwell and wife, Linda, all of Tupelo; five grandchildren, Joey Blackwell, Andy Sheffield and wife, Katie, all of Tupelo, Jennifer Edwards and husband, Jeff, of Philadelphia, D.W. Blackwell, and Maggie Blackwell, both of Tupelo; three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Leon Blackwell; two sisters, Florence Burrage and Mattie Ben Hill; an infant sister, Polly Little; two brothers, Wade Little and Lawrence Little; and her son-in-law, Jimmy Sheffield.
Pallbearers will be Andy Sheffield, D.W. Blackwell, Jim Brister, Joey Blackwell, Jeff Edwards, and Steve Sheffield.
