MADGE EVANS Saltillo - Sara Magdalene "Madge" Evans, 80, died Friday, February 22, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. A Camp Creek Community native, she was born September 7, 1932, to Alec Burlin and Martha Elizabeth Noblett Wages. After graduating high school she worked for over 40 years at Reeds Dept. Store. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and working with her flowers. She enjoyed meeting people and never met a stranger. She was loved by all who knew her. She was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2013, at The Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors with Dr. Ken Anderson and Rev. Jerry Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Camp Creek Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Renee Smith and Regina Counce (Rod) of Saltillo; three sisters, Clarice Tutor and Ruth Langford (Billy) both of Tupelo and Clara Gusmus (Raymond) of Saltillo; three grandchildren, Morgan Smith, Jace and Jude Counce all of Saltillo; two special nephews, Mickey Wages and Carlton Smith (Marie); a host of other nieces and nephews and special friends, Mike and Martha Gunner. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Clytee Wages and Christine Thomas; two brothers, Rev. James Wages and Leroy Wages; one son-in-law, Tommy Smith; one sister-in-law, Ruth Daughtrey. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in honor of Mrs. Madge Evans to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
