MACK PANNELL

Monroe, North Carolina -- Mack Pannell, 94, formerly of Tupelo, died Friday, April 2, 2010, at the Jesse Helms Nursing Center of Carolinas Medical Center- Union in Monroe, North Carolina. He was born September 14, 1915, in Tupelo, a son of the late Richard Samuel Pannell and Luella Cummings Pannell. He was a graduate of Verona High School, a member of the West Main Street Church of Christ, and a former member of the Tupelo Luncheon Civitan Club. He was a retired salesman for General Foods, now Kraft Foods, with many years of service and Gunter's Food Store, in Tupelo. He and his wife, Esther moved to the Charlotte, North Carolina area approximately 5 years ago.

A Service to Celebrate his life will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues. Burial will be in Chesterville Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Rogers Pannell of Weddington, North Carolina; a daughter, Alice Pannell Roberts and husband John Roberts of Weddington, North Carolina. There are two grandchildren, Jill Roberts Keane of Washington, DC and John Michael Roberts of Charlotte.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael James Pannell in 1969; four brothers, Elliott Pannell, Gerald Pannell, RL Pannell, and Lester Pannell; and two sisters, Laudie Mae Lauderdale and Martha Murphy.

Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 until service time Wednesday at Pegues Funeral Home.
