MAC McLAURIN Elbert Clark (Mac) McLaurin, 88, of Germantown, TN, son of Vera and Daniel McLaurin, passed away Sunday October 26 after a long illness. A veteran of WWII, he was a radar operator on an LST in the Pacific and graduated from Union University where he played football. He retired from GMAC in Tupelo, MS after 35 years with the company. He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 55 years, Merri Jill Wilson, his brother James and a son, Michael. He was an accomplished singer, serving in the Tupelo United Methodist Church choir and dinner theaters for many years. He will be dearly missed by his family, son Steve McLaurin, and daughters Karen (Allen) Clayborne and Vicki (Phillip) Johnson, his grandchildren, Samantha and Katherine Clayborne, Matthew, Daniel and Peter Johnson, Erinn Johnson and Jennifer Jones and eight great-grandchildren, as well as his many friends in Tupelo and Germantown. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Tupelo United Methodist Church or Methodist Hospice Residence, Memphis. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Jefferson Street chapel of W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
