Mabel Sartain

March 27, 1927 — November 24, 2007

BELDEN " Mabel Clara Sartain, 80, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at the North Miss. Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born March 27, 1927, in the Fairview community of Itawamba County to Cleatus Hall and Beatrice Winningham Hall. She had lived in the Belden community since 1981. She was a homemaker and a member of the Locust Hill Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Fairview High School. She loved quilting, sewing, knitting, cooking and shopping.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Rev. Eugene Digby officiating. Burial will be in the Ridge Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, John Sartain of Belden, whom she married in 1946; three sons, Johnny Lawrence Sartain and Patsy, Joey Dean Sartain and Michele, and Jeffrey Aaron Sartain, all of Belden; one sister, Shirley Tackett of Skyline; two brothers, Fred Hall of Jackson and Ray Malone of Shelton, Wash.; 11 grandchildren, Kenneth Sartain, Travis Sartain, Justus Sartain, Amanda Sartain Justin Sartain, Kristin Sartain, Amber Sartain, Kathy Sartain, Sherry Sartain, Kerry Sartain and Kyle Sartain; one great-grandchild; and six cousins, Vester Cox, Charlene Rhodes, Nell Sewell, Victoria Franks, Louise Mask and Delores Daugherty.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cleatus Hall, her mother, Beatrice Winningham Hall; her stepfather, George Malone; one brother, William Hubert Malone; two sisters, Louise Lackey and Ruth Baines; and one grandchild, Jennifer Sartain.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Sartain and Travis Sartain.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
