LYNWOOD ROBERTS Endville - Lynwood Basden Roberts, 68, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the North MS Medical Center after a four-year battle with cancer. He was born May 1, 1946, to Woody E. and Linda Greer Roberts. He attended school in Ellistown and graduated in 1964 from East Union High School. He served in the US Navy from 1966 until 1968, part of that time aboard the USS Forrestal. He retired from BellSouth after thirty years and worked for TRI and Crye Leike Realty for five years. Lynwood enjoyed reading and drinking coffee with his friends at the Endville General Store. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, Bennett Lynwood and Evelyn Margaret, and his honorary granddaughter, Layla Brook Stevens. He was a Baptist and member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church. Services will be 11 a.m. at W. E. Pegues Funeral Home on Friday, January 23, 2015 with Bro. Rusty Miller and Bro. Tommy Vinson officiating with special music by Brandy Beaman. Visitation will be at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2015. Honorary pallbearers will be former co-workers from BellSouth and all his coffee-drinking friends from the Endville General Store. Lynwood is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Wade Roberts; his two sons, Christopher Lynwood (Gretchen) of Collierville and Casey Lyndon (Lisa) of the Endville Community; grandchildren, Bennett and Evelyn Roberts of Collierville, TN; sisters, Carolyn Roberts, Mabel Rakestraw (Benny), Joan Fox, and Jean Herring (Ed); brothers, Gerald Roberts (Betty) and Dean Roberts (Jean). He was preceded in death by brothers, Richard Roberts, Hoyle Roberts and Lyndon Roberts; sister, Mary Elizabeth Morgan. Memorial donations may be made to Sanctuary Hospice House, 5159 W.
