Verona - William Lynn Mallory, 51, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at his residence after a sudden illness. A Lee County native and lifelong resident, he was born September 1, 1959, to Jacob and Lavelle Mason Mallory. Before becoming disabled, he worked in the furniture industry. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed NASCAR. He also loved working in the yard and talking with friends and family
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Billy Langley officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery.
Survivors include his father, Jacob Mallory, Sr of Verona; his sister, Patsy Mattox of Verona; three brothers John Herndon (Margie) of Saltillo, Jacob Mallory, Jr. (Venetia) of Old Union Community, and Gerald Mallory (Linda) of Pontocola Community; four nieces, Tangi Bobo (Timmy) of Pontocola, Lori Moses (Jason) of Smyrna, Ga., Lauren Mallory of Old Union, and Amber Moss of Pontocola; four nephews, Michael Herndon (Anne) of Jacksonville, Ala., William Martin, Jr. of Mantachie, Craig Martin (Shannon) of Pontocola, and Christopher Mallory of Old Union; three great-nieces, Brooke Herndon, Kayla Timmons, and Cassie Dunaway; and six great-nephews, John Michael Herndon, Tyler Timmons, Daylan Martin, Evan Conley, Blake Martin and Wesley Moss.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lavelle Mason Mallory; and a special friend, Faye Ashberry.
Pallbearers will be William Martin, Craig Martin, Timmy Bobo, Tyler Timmons, Norman Mattox, Mickey Payne, Christopher Mallory, William (Dede) Martin.
