Lyle Megginson

Tupelo - Gray Carlisle Lyle Megginson, 50, died Friday, June 11, 2010, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after a lengthy illness. A Tupelo native, Lyle was born November 26, 1959 to Oscar Gray and Madolin Batte Megginson. He was a 1978 graduate of Tupelo High School and then went on to Gem City College in Quincy, Illinois. He owned and operated Megginson Jewelry in Tupele for 22 years. He was active in the community and prior to his illness had served as a Cub Scout Den Leader at First Presbyterian Church. He was an active member of The Orchard United Methodist Congregation.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2010 at The Orchard with Rev. Bryan Collier and Rev. Forrest Robert Hamilton, II officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Nita Megginson; one son, Reece Megginson; his father, Gray Megginson (Joanna) all of Tupelo; two sisters, Judy Peterson (Chip) of Collierville, Tennesee, Janet Smith (Jager) of Brandon; a Goddaaughter, Anna B. Purcell of Atlanta, Georgia; his sisters-in-law, Shelby Darlington of Orlando, Florida, Liz Isom of Shannon, and Susan Cannon of Tupelo; his brothers-in-law, Ray Gober (Linda) of Pontotoc, Mike Gober (Connie) of Elyria, Ohio, Johnny Reece (Kim) of Belden, and Keith Reece (Kathy) of Tupelo; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother Madolin Megginson.
Pallbearers will be Wade Purcell, Glenn Thomas, Stewart Maxcy, Woody Watson, Jeff Ballard, Steve Howell, Danny Cash, and Blake Stein.
Honorary pallbearers will be the employees and families of Megginson Jewelry.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the funeral home.
