Luke Wilson

October 16, 1923 — April 23, 2010

Old Union - Luke Orville Wilson, 86, died Friday, April 23, 2010, at Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks after an extended illness. A Monroe County native, he was born October 16, 1923 to Luke and Lucien Hester Wilson. He was reared in the Shannon and Okolona areas, and had lived most of his adult life in Tupelo. He served in the US Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Chincoteague. He was owner of Tupelo Upholstery with his brother Maburn and later Wilson's Upholstery.

Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Mr. Sammy Lansdell and Clint Edge officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Shannon Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Rebecca Wilson; three sons, Jim Wilson (Jane), Robert Wilson (Pat) and Randy Wilson (Tammie); six grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Lavern Mims and Linda (Joy) Edge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jewel Witt; two brothers, Rex and Maburn Wilson.

Visitation will continue Sunday until service time at the funeral home.
