Lucille " Cil " Jernigan

Tupelo - Lucille Cil Jernigan, 88, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at her residence after a sudden illness. She was born August 26, 1920 in Itawamba County to Jess and Lula Bell Lesley Stanley. She is the widow of Harold Jernigan, who preceded her in death 9 years ago. In 1968, she moved from Dorsey to Tupelo with her family. She was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed her church. She loved her family and especialy enjoyed having them around her. She was known to them by the affectionate name of Nanny. She enoyed flower gardening and birds.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2008 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Loden officiating. Entombment will be in Lee Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Ballard of Tupelo; one son, Thomas Franks and his wife, Rhonda, of Tupelo; one brother, J. D. Stanley and his wife, Mildred, of Kentucky; two sisters, Verna Mae Kyle of Dorsey and Earlene Newman and her husband, Russell, of Aberdeen; six grandchildren, Tia Gilbert and her husband, Mark, of Asheville, North Carolina, Kristie Lauderdale and her husband, Jonathan, of Tupelo, Beth Grubbs and her husband, Mark, of Saltillo, Sam Bubba Franks and his wife, DeeDee, of Tupelo, Ally Cox and her husband, Cliff, of Tupelo, Ashley Franks of Tupelo; great grandchildren, Christian, Steviana, Liam, Taylor, Jordan, Sam, Wesley, Cameron, Adam and Chamberlain; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Jernigan, her parents, three brothers, Robert Stanley, Troy Stanley and Henry Allen Stanley; three sisters, Gertrude Sheffield, Irene Donald and Allene Aldridge.
Pallbearers will be Steven Thomas, Sam BubbaFranks, Cliff Cox, Jonathan Lauderdale, David Newman, Ronnie Stanley, Ricky Stanley and Jerry Stanley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Wesley Burks, Christian Thomas, Taylor Franks and Liam Gilbert.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Lee County Shrine Club, P. O. Box 232, Tupelo, MS 38802.
