LOUISE W. WHITE Tupelo - Dorothy Louise Welsh White, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20th, 2014 at her home in Tupelo. She was born on May 11, 1927, in Highland Park, Michigan to Roy and Lela Welsh. She was raised in Hattiesburg, MS, and graduated from Hattiesburg High School. On April 8, 1950, she and her husband of 57 years, A. T. "Lonnie" White, were married in Hattiesburg, MS. In 1964, the family relocated to Tupelo, where she was involved with her children's many activities. She will be remembered as the devoted mother of her five children, and caring grandmother of her 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, having served over the years as Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, and WMU member. She was a member of the North Mississippi Medical Center Women's Auxiliary, serving a term as President during her years of service. A celebration of her life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Tupelo on Friday, May 23, at 2 pm, with Dr. David Eldridge officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Cemetery in Verona MS. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements. She is survived by her five children, Mary Lou Parks, Steve White (Ellen), Ellen Caldwell (Lee), Susie Thompson (Mike), and Laura McCullough (Glenn), all of Tupelo; 12 grandchildren, Lee Parks of Memphis, TN, John White (Katie) of Olive Branch, MS, David White of Jackson, MS, Ben White of Tupelo, Jeff Caldwell (Anissa) of Tupelo, Amy Murphree (Jim) of Tupelo, Kevin Caldwell of Tupelo, Katie Murphy (Matt) of Tyler, TX, Lindsey Thompson of Nashville, TN, Emily McCoy (Jason) of Nashville, TN, Vance McCullough (Rachael) of Tupelo, GT McCullough (Sally Beth) of Natchitoches, LA; 8 great-grandchildren, Claire White of Olive Branch, MS, Emma Murphree of Tupelo, Mackenzie and Sarah Jordan Watkins of Tupelo, Lily, Asher, and Coen Murphy, all of Tyler, TX, and Bailey McCullough of Tupelo. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Lela Welsh, and her husband A. T. "Lonnie" White. Her grandsons will serve as her pallbearers. The family would like to extend special thanks to Sharon Clifton and Ebony Willingham, for their tireless efforts in helping care for Louise over the past nine months in her home. Visitation will be 4-7 pm on Thursday, May 22, at W.E. Pegues Funeral Home in Tupelo, and at Calvary Baptist Church on Friday, May 23, at 1 pm until service time.
