LOUISE SMITH VINSON

Tupelo - LOUISE SMITH VINSON, 80, died Friday, October 27, 2006, at her home in the Mt. Vernon Community. A Union County native, she was born November 20, 1925 to the late Samuel Owen and Lucy Viola Young Smith. She was a 1944 graduate of Sherman High School. In 1945 she married John E. "Red Vinson and moved to Tupelo. She was retired from Hardin's Bakery after 20 years of service. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and cooking and all church activities. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where she was a member of the the Ladies Senior Adult Sunday School Class.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2006 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Ken Pollock officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery .

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Christian and husband, T.O. Christian of Tupelo; one daughter-in-law, Doris Vinson of Amory; four grandchildren, Jody Christian and wife, Shannon, of Saltillo, Heather Vinson of Amory, Tracy Smith McCormick of Tupelo, and Chris Trawick of Dora, Ala.; one brother, Clarence O. Smith of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. "Red" Vinson; a son, Smith Vinson; and six brothers, Audrey Gilmore Smith, Leo Smith, James Smith, Billy Smith, J.C. Smith and Herman Smith.

Pallbearers will be Jack Dillard, Ronnie Smith, James Smith, Tommy Bradsher, William Riley, and Larry Raper

Honorary Pallbearers will be Gerald Scott, David Vinson, and Marvin Robbins.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
