Nettleton - Sarah Louise Edwards Parker, 83, died Monday, May 5, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. A Mississippi native, she was born October 14, 1924 to Willie Ed and Ethel Mae Rhudy Edwards. She lived the majority of her life in the Nettleton and Plantersville area, graduating from Nettleton High School in 1942. She worked nearly thirty years for Reeds Manufacturing, retiring in 1978. She enjoyed gardening, working crossword puzzles, fishing and taking care of her animals. She loved her family, doting over her grandchildren, and will be remembered for her superb baking skills. She was a dedicated member of Temple Grove Baptist Church.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Nettleton with Rev. Paul Sims and Rev. James Gillentine officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, East of Plantersville. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Jenoise Scribner and husband, James, and Pansy Joyner and husband, James, both of Nettleton; five grandchildren, Melinda Peters and husband, Joe, David Scribner and wife, Yvonne, Torrey Joyner, Tanya Nichols and husband, Billy, and Terry Price and husband, Scott, all of Nettleton; five great-grandchildren, Chasity and Baylee Nichols, Gunner Price, Cory and Kaylee Scribner; one brother, John Hollis Edwards and wife, Joan, of Plantersville; one sister, Willie Mae Jobe of Plantersville; two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Parker and Lucille Pender; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Douglas Parker, who died January 8, 1979; a grandson James Jason Scribner, her twin sister Lucille Allred and her sister, Bobbie Clark.
Pallbearers will be David Scribner, Torrey Joyner, Joe Peters, Phil Edwards, Scott Price and Billy Nichols.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
