Belden—Louise Morphis, affectionately known by all who loved her as “Granny,” went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at her home in Belden. She was 91 years old. Born August 30, 1930, Louise was the daughter of Calvin Eugene Wilson and Julie Brasher Wilson. Louise knew the value of hard work and for many years worked for Marshall Durbin before her retirement. During her later years, she enjoyed watching her game shows and frequenting yard sales. Louise loved a good family barbeque and found much joy in spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the glue that held her family together and the rock on which they relied.
Left behind to cherish her memory are four children, Dale Morphis (Ella) of Houlka, Tony Morphis (Sammie Kaye) of Belmont, Danny Kidd (Mary) of Pontotoc, and Dorothy Hamblin (Luther) of Belden; 11 grandchildren, Johnny Morphis, Timothy Morphis (Christina), Tonya Stringfield, Tambla Morhpis, April Bridges, Amanda Griffin (David), Ashley Britton, JaRee Taylor, Tonya Dillard (Billy), Randle Hamblin (Nicki), and Robert Hamblin (Maria); and a host of great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eber Morphis; and three great-granddaughters, Keeley Johnson, Renesmee Bridges, and Natalie Griffin.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2022 at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Bro. Danny Ethridge and Bro. Billy Dillard officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 until 8 p.m. Friday at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.
