Lou Whitt
Mooreville- The joyful and sassy Lou Ellen Madison Whitt died Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at The Meadows in Fulton at the age of 92 years old. Lou was the youngest child of John Madison and Dolly King Madison born on May 6, 1929 in Jasper, Alabama. Lou attended Cordova High School.
In 1947, Lou married Hubert Ray “H.R.” Whitt; they were married for 57 years before his death in 2000. After many years, she retired from KI Manufacturing. She also worked for a number of years at Debbie’s Daycare. The daycare brought her a lot of joy working with children. Lou was an excellent cook; she never had any memorized recipes but always knew how to make each meal and dessert perfect. Her family will remember many of her dishes but especially her dressing, chicken and dumplings, biscuits and chocolate cake. Lou had a passion for shopping; she enjoyed taking her time and browsing. She could always be found Saturday morning at JC Penny’s shopping.
Lou was a longtime member of Eggville Free Will Baptist Church.
Lou leaves behind her adored family including her two children, Debbie Dickerson and her husband, Tony, of Mooreville, and Mike Whitt and his wife, Vicki of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Beckie Franks of Mooreville, Rusty Boren and his wife, Mona, of Mooreville, Jennifer Ballard and her husband, Terry, of Mooreville, Angie Vinson and her husband, David, of Madison, and Chassidy Leavell of Birmingham, Alabama; four step-grandchildren, Terry Dickerson of Mooreville, Jeff Dickerson and his wife, Krissy, of Guntown, Scotty Martin of Houston, Texas, and Brad Martin and his fiancé, Carla, of Houston, Texas; 16 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dolly Madison; husband, H. R. Whitt; daughter, Sandra Kay Whitt; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Saturday, March 5, 2022, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services honoring Lou’s life will be 12 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with The Rev. Dr. Gerald Gann officiating and remarks made by Jimmy Young. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Cory Franks, Zack Boren, Peyton Boren, Jaxon Vinson, Rayf Vinson, Cortez Leavell, and Ben Kingsley.
Honorary pallbearers will be her great-great-grandsons.
