Lou Vails

Tupelo - Lou Allie Vails, 89, died Friday, June 18, 2010, at her residence after a brief illness. She was born July 15, 1920 in Toccopola, to Steve and Lou Emma Brownlee Hanson. She attended Toccopola and Mathiston High Schools, and then attended Wood Junior College. A longtime resident of Tupelo, she worked many years in the catalogue department for Sears. She was an active member of AARP and the Young at Heart Club. Her greatest priority was her family whom she loved dearly. She was the widow of Charles L. Vails who died in 1994.

Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Bryan Collier and Rev. Jay Stanley officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery in Matheston.

Survivors include two sons, Charles R. Vails (Elizabeth) of Linden, Tex. and Robert Wayne Vails (Jeanie) of Saltillo; six grandchildren, Teresa Vails of Tupelo, Charles R. Vails, Jr. (Peggy) of Benbrook, Tex., Cindy Underwood of Lebanon Junction, Ky., Wendi McFerrin (Stacy) of Tupelo, Lorie Murphy (Tracy) of Saltillo, Quinton Vails of Unity; seven great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Patrick Underwood, Mac and Lou Allie McFerrin, Brandi Seawright (Heath), Courtney Murphy, Angie Vails; one great-great-granddaughter, Marlee Brook Seawright.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two sisters, Willie Nolan and Ruby Watson; and two brothers, Charlie Hanson and Buddy Hanson.

Pallbearers will be Quinton Vails, Ray Vails, Stacy McFerrin, Tracy Murphy Keith Seawright and Jonathan Underwood

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
