Tupelo - LOTTIE THOMPSON WEST, 97, died Sunday, December 9, 2007, at The Martin Green House At Traceway. She was born October 9, 1910 to the late John Silas and Maggie Russell Thompson. She graduated from Tupelo High School and is believed to have been the last surviving member of the Class of 1929. She joined Frist Baptist Church of Tupelo at the age of 12 where she was very active all her life until recent years when health and age prevented her participation.She was an Avon Sales Representative for many years and received various awards and prizes for her achievements. She was the widow of Fletcher West who died in 1989. She spent her final years at the Martin House where she received wonderful and compassionate care. She was a great inspiration to her children and grandchildren and also to the many people she encountered in her lifelong residence in Tupelo.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Randy Von Kanel officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include three sons, Jimmy West and wife, Vicki, of Tupelo, and Bill West and wife, Doris of Grenada, Jerry West and wife, Janice of Houston, Tex.; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband and a daughter, Mary Lucille West Tooke; her brothers, Grider, Jake, Lee and Lucian Thompson; and her sisters, Lora Gardner and Beulah Bell Thompson.
Pallbearers will be Bill West, Jr., Mark West, Kevin West, Chuck Newell, Casey Hester and Blake Hester.
Visitation will be 9 am. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
