LOTTIE M. SMITH

Tupelo - LOTTIE MARY SMITH, 86, died Friday, December 15, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center. A Guntown native, she was born February 12, 1920 to the late William P. and Lottie Mary Fain McNutt. She was the widow of James B. Smith who died June 7, 1988. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her caramel pies. She had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed singing with her husband. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Bryant Barnes officiating. Rev. Roger Smith will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in McNeil Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Coline Merritt and husband, Malone, of Saltillo; a sister, Betty Blissard, of Saltillo; one brother, Roy McNutt and wife, Betty, of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Lisa Tally and husband, Jeff, of Saltillo, Kathy McLaurin and husband, Jeff, of Saltillo, and Alan Merritt and wife, Yvonne, of Saltillo; seven great-grandchildren, Jim, Lance, Russ, Rachel, Tyler, Justin, and Jill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Michael Yancey Smith; and three brothers and three sisters.

Pallbearers will be Alan Merritt, Justin Merritt, Jim Tally, Lance Tally, Russ Tally, and Tyler McLaurin.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
