Lottie F. Gillentine, 92, died Monday, April 16, 2018, at Sanctuary Hospice House. A Lee County native, she was born April 11, 1926, to Archie and Lucille Garner Carnathan. She attended Mooreville High School where she was a member of the basketball team. Lottie was married to Crafton Gillentine for 67 years until his death on May 4, 2010. She enjoyed a 35 year career with Sears and Roebuck beginning downtown taking phone orders for catalog sales and later worked in retail sales and management after Sears moved to the Tupelo Mall. She found great joy in tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She derived great pleasure in cooking and baking for family and friends and always provided dessert with her meals. She was a very devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Lottie was the oldest member of Crossroads Christian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Duff and her husband, John of Laurel; one son, Mike Gillentine and his wife, Marsha of Baldwyn; five grandchildren, Missi Shoup and her husband, David of Brandon, Dax Wheeler of Tupelo, Kimberly Deaton and her husband, Chris of Mooreville, Pate Gillentine and his wife, Tabitha and Nick Gillentine all of Baldwyn; six great-grandchildren, Bailey and Cameron Shoup, Brice and Mary Margaret Deaton, Jase and Mason Gillentine; and five nieces and nephews, Sandra Ballard, Sheila Jenkins, Eddie Carnathan, Janice Tindoll and Carey Carnathan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Tim Gillentine; one sister Mary Ruth Carnathan; one brother, Russell Carnathan; and a brother and sister- in- law, Arvis and Virginia Gillentine.
Visitation will be from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services honoring her life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Devin Dutka officiating. A eulogy will be given by Dax Wheeler and Janice Tindoll. Burial will be in Crossroads Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Barry Jenkins, Chris Deaton, Dan Ballard, Dax Wheeler, Carey Carnathan, Eddie Carnathan and Avalon Tindoll.
Honorary pallbearers will be David, Cameron and Bailey Shoup, Brice Deaton, Pate and Nick Gillentine, Scott Wagner, Richard Stephenson, Jeff Elliott and Robbie Gumm.
