Lorene Stanford

Auburn - Lorene Stanford "Big-Mama", 79, died on Monday, October 22, 2007, after an extended illness, she went home to her Lord, surrounded by friends and family. She was born on December 13, 1927 to Elmer and Maudie Keith Brooks. She married her love, Charles Stanford on September 16, 1944. They were residents of the Auburn Community for 53 years. She was a member of Auburn Baptist Church for 43 years. She was employed at Blue Bell for many years before becoming a beautician. She enjoyed playing games with her family and was an avid reader. She was a wonderful Christian woman who was an inspiration and a blessing to all who knew her.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at W.E. Pegues Funeral Chapel with Dr. Bobby Burt and Rev. David Singleton officiating. Burial will be in the Eggville Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Lauderdale (Charles) of the Auburn Community, one son, Ronnie Stanford, of the Auburn Community; one sister, Mary Ruth Estes of the Eggville Community; four grandchildren, Michelle Jones (Jeff), Tammy Hall, Dawn Baker (John), and Tony Tackett (Suzanne); ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charles Stanford; her parents; one sister Berdie Lucas; two brothers, Chester Brooks and Ed Brooks.

Pallbearers will be Mike Rodgers, Dayton Rodgers, Terry Ramey, Harvey Mitchell, Sammy Reed, Brent Reed, Jack Burnham, and Lawrence Stanford.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Howard Wilson, Donnie Ryan, and all her nephews.
