Loreda Cooper

Tupelo - LOREDA COOPER, 93, went to be with the Lord Friday, February 8, 2008. She was born October 12, 1914 to the late Reese and Sallie Hood Christian of the Dorsey Community. She attended school in Itawamba County. She worked as a supervisor for Joyner-Fields Manufacturing. for over 25 years. She married Howard C. Cooper March 4, 1934, and they had three sons, Darrell, Doyle and an infant son who died at birth. She enjoyed reading her Bible, sewing and cooking. Her life was a testament to her love of the Lord. She attended Macedonia Baptist Church and truly loved her church family.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Mark Cayson and Rev. Frank Cayson officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Belden.

Survivors include three grandsons, David Cooper and wife, Teresa, of Tupelo, Larry Cooper of Plantersville, and Mark Cooper and wife, Teresa, of Plantersville; two daughters-in-law, Ruby Cooper McWhorter of Plantersville and JoAnn Cooper of Guin, Ala.; five great-grandchildren, Darrell Cooper and wife, Heather, of Tupelo, Lori Cooper of Tupelo, Lisa Cochran of Tupelo, Katelyn and Madalyn Cooper of Plantersville; one sister, Laura Caldwell and husband, Jim, of Horn Lake; one brother, Elvis Christian and wife, Sara, of Tupelo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Howard C. Cooper; two sons, Darrell and Doyle Cooper; five sisters, Evelene Franks, Loda Mae Franks, Lusine Gray, Leba McLarty and Lizzie Lee Brazile; two brothers, James Eldrig Christian and Ernest Christian; and an infant son.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, David, Larry, and Mark Cooper; her great-grandson, Darrell Cooper, and nephews, Buddy Gray and Steve Caldwell.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
