Tupelo - Frances Lois Wood, 68, died Monday, August 31, 2009, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born August 21, 1941 in Trenton, Tenn. to Raymond and Myrtle Ragsdale Gibson. She has lived in the Lee County area for the past 30 years. A resident of Lake Piomingo, she enjoyed evening rides on the pontoon boat and watching her great-grandchildren play She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Tupelo Memorial Park with Sammy Lansdell officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Joe Wood, of Lake Piomingo; two daughters, Loretta Boland (James) and Anita Smith (Larry Bauer), all of Lake Piomingo; one brother, Frank Gibson (Sandra)one sister, Mary Helen McKinnley (James) all of Trenton, Tenn.; one grandson, Bobby Oswalt of Lake Piomingo; two great-grandchildren, Kara Gibson and Blayze Oswalt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Bud Gibson; a sister, Doris Evelyn Gibson; and a son-in-law, Ernest K. Smith
Pallbearers will be Larry Bauer, Bobby Stephens, Bobby Oswalt, James Boland, Gary Wood and Ross Smith.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
