Tupelo - Lisa Diane Roberts Pirkle, 53, retired math teacher at Tupelo High School, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015, after injuries sustained from a fall in her home. She was a New Albany native, born November 15, 1961 to Jeral Roberts and Anita Speck Roberts. She was raised in and around New Albany where she was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and it was there that she met her future husband Greg. In 1979, Lisa graduated from W. P. Daniel High School in New Albany. From 1979 until 1981, she attended Northeast Community College. She graduated in 1983, from The University of Mississippi with a Bachelors in Education. She also earned her Masters and Specialist degree from The University of Mississippi. Lisa began her secondary math teaching career at Biggersville High School and later taught at W. P. Daniel High School in New Albany for a number of years before joining the staff at Tupelo High School. She retired in May of 2014 after 31 years in education. Lisa loved time with her family. Lisa enjoyed spending her pastime scrapbooking, cooking, working in her yard and was known for staying busy. Lisa was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tupelo. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church in Tupelo with Dr. David Eldridge officiating. Graveside service will be in Gerizim Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Gregory D. Pirkle of Tupelo; one son, Tyler Gregory Pirkle of Tupelo; one daughter, Megan Brooke Pirkle of Tupelo and mother, Anita Roberts of New Albany. She was preceded in death by her father on February 26, 2014, Jeral Roberts. Pallbearers will be Mike Carter, Dr. Phil Jones, Stephen Kent, David Skinner, Ray Gregory Skinner, Dr. Robert Skinner, Stephen Skinner, and Judd Wilson.
