LINDON RATLIFF Baldwyn - Lindon Ratliff, 70, died Saturday morning, January 19, 2013 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 9, 1942 to Paul and Alice Powell Ratliff. He attended Wheeler High School and graduated in 1960. He attended North East Junior College in Booneville Mississippi, and graduated in 1963. He was the first male graduate of the Registered Nurse program at NEMJC. After becoming a Registered Nurse, he worked at McNairy County General Hospital in Selmer, Tennessee where he met the love of his life, Lois Jones, who was also a nurse. They married on June 16, 1965. He served during the Vietnam War in the Army Nurse Corp as an officer. Upon honorable discharge from the Army, he continued his career as a Registered Nurse. During his career, he worked at such places as Western State Mental Hospital, Magnolia Hospital in Corinth, Booneville Hospital and North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He retired from NMMC after working twenty-two years as a supervisor and later as Nurse Manager. Throughout his career, he cherished the many friends and "family" he encountered in both his patients and co-workers. The highlight of his career was his ability to work with his wife and children. During his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his wife Lois Ratliff of forty-seven years, his three daughters; Paula Ratliff, Pamela Ratliff, Patricia Ratliff and his son Dr. Lindon Ratliff. He loved his daughter-in-law Melissa Clemmer Ratliff and his two grandchildren, Joseph Ratliff and Isabella Ratliff. He enjoyed gardening, wood working and growing roses which he would give to his wife. He was a wonderful husband, father and Papa, devotedly religious Catholic and communicant of St Francis Catholic Church in Booneville Mississippi, where he faithfully attended. He was devoted to God, Mary and his wife and family who, in turn, loved and adored him. He is survived by his wife, Lois Ratliff, daughters, Paula Ratliff, Pamela Ratliff, Patricia Ratliff, son, Dr. Lindon Ratliff and his wife Melissa Clemmer Ratliff and grandchildren, Joseph and Isabella Ratliff. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Alice Powell Ratliff. A Mass will be held 1 p.m., Monday, January 21, 2013, at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Booneville. Visitation will be 3 - 6 p.m., Sunday at W. E. Pegues, 535 W. Jefferson Street, Tupelo, Mississippi 38804 and continue Monday at the Church from 11 a.m. until service time.
