LINDA ELAINE WEST Verona - Linda Elaine Priddy West, 86, passed away March 6, 2015, at the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Unit after a brief illness. She was born on October 19, 1928, in the "Tater Hill" Community of Lee County, to John and Myrtle Allen Priddy. She graduated from Mooreville High School and married Ray Mitchell West and they made their home in Verona. Elaine worked in the garment industry and at Verona School Cafeteria. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Verona First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Elaine was the historian of her large family, being one of nine children. Elaine enjoyed crocheting and cooking and was known for her fried chicken and chocolate pies. Services will be 2 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2015, at Verona First Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Dunlap officiating. Burial will be in Verona City Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include one son, Ray Stephen West of Verona; one granddaughter, Ashley Wilson of Baldwyn; one sister, Martha Sanders of Hernando; two sisters-in-law, Diane Priddy and Sylvia Priddy both of Tupelo; one brother-in-law, Charles Norton of McMinnville, Tennessee; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray West in 2003; one son, Terry West in 2008; four sisters, Pauline Norton, Geraldine Carr, Florine Martin and Mary Jo Pannell; three brothers, John Allen Priddy, Jimmy Priddy and Buster Priddy. Pallbearers will be Randy Pannell, Wes Bryan, David Priddy, Jimmy Priddy, Josh Priddy, and Frank Caldwell. Visitation will be 3 until 6 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2015, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo and from 12 until 2 p.m. Monday at the church.
