Tupelo - Linda J. Pickens, 64, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born February 13, 1945 to Rev. Elmer J. and Juanita Ross Bailey. Raised in Grenada, she worked for the Daily Star in Grenada for several years. She had lived in Tupelo the past 13 years. She enjoyed arts and crafts and taking care of her dogs
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Calhoun County. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Rodney Ferrell of Tupelo; two daughters, Patricia Taylor (Curtis) of Grenada and Sharon Brown (Jeff) of Saltillo; two sisters, June Woods (Edward) of Grenada and Kathy Brooks (Dougie) of Grenada; one brother, Earl Bailey (Teresa) of Mobile, Ala.; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her mother, Virginia J. Bailey of Grenada.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Elmer Jackson Bailey; her daughter, Becky Brewer.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Brown, Carl Sykes, Curtis Taylor, C.W. Taylor, Steven Rhea, and Dillon Sykes
Visitation will be noon to service time Saturday at the church.
