LILLIE HANKINS
Tupelo - LILLIE MAE HANKINS, 85, died Saturday, October 20, 2007, at her residence in Tupelo surrounded by her family. A Tupelo native, she was born September 12, 1922 to the late Oscar and Virgie Raper Putt. In her early years she worked for Fred's Dollar Store, Deb's Dollar Store, and later for Two Sisters Dress Shop. She was a member of East Heights Baptist Church for many years. She was married for 50 years to Roy Hankins who preceded her in death, May 1, 1991.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 22, 2007 in The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Jason Marlon and Rev. Phillip McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include three daughers, Delores Smith and her husband, Billy, of Sherman. Rita Kirk and Mary Gibson both of Tupelo; one brother, Bobby Putt of Winfield, Alabama; four sisters, Annette Jorden and her husband, Rob, of Winfield, Nell Mauldin, Cheryl Collins and her husband, Steve, and Brenda Dry and her husband, Earl, all of Tupelo; 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren..
She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Jonathan Bramlett; two sisters, Dot Shepard, and Kate McCoy; four brothers, James Earl, Jimmy, Bob and Monroe Putt; and a son-in-law, Dr. Robert Kirk, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy MCoy, Tommy McCoy, Chuck Sheppard, Billy Hare, Mike White, Charles Hankins, Jerry Putt, Wade Collins, Shane Collins, Jody Collins, John Dry, and Bobby Mauldin..
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
