LILLIE FAYE ADAMS Tupelo - Lillie Faye Adams, 84, passed, April 26, 2016 at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was born on January 24, 1932 in Tupelo, Mississippi to the late Willie and Gertha Shelley.
She graduated from George Washington Carver High School. After graduating high school, she attended Mississippi Industrial College in Holly Springs, Mississippi. In 1951, she received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, she taught at George Washington Carver High School, Green Street Elementary School and lastly Joyner Elementary School. After 30 years of teaching she retired in 1984. After she retired, she continued to be involved in her church, community and sorority. She was a lifetime member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Mu Mu Zeta Chapter. She loved gardening, cooking, baking and canning. She also loved sharing the goods with family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Norphesia G. Adams (Anthony J. Williams); two grandchildren, Bryce Reid Adams-Williams and Bailey Addyson Adams-Williams; two sisters, Mary Wright and Lola Cayson; two brothers, Willie (Ham) Shelley and Larry Farr; two sisters-in-laws, Jewel Adams and Minnie Adams; a niece she raised as a daughter, Sandra B. Shelley and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lola Montgomery and granddaughter, Amanda Lauren Adams-Williams. Services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lane Chapel C.M. E. Church with Rev. Dr. Cheryl Penson, officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be left at
