LILLIAN WELCH
Rankin County " Lillian Ruth Tully Welch, 99, died Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at Jaquith Nursing Facility after an extended illness. A Pontotoc County native, she was born October 22, 1907 to the late J.F. and Evalena MooMoo Tully. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Algoma High School. She was the widow of William Claude Welch who preceded her in death in August of 1988. She was an avid reader and was known for quoting poetry. She enjoyed playing the piano, organ, and singing. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She loved her family and was loved by them.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Joe Tully officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include four children, Dr. William Claude "Billy" Welch, Jr. and wife, Pat, of Brandon, Dorothy Ann Parmer and husband, Clyde, Betty Faye Saxon and husband, Sam, and David Lee Welch and wife, Charlotte, all of Tupelo; 17 grandchildren, Terry Wimbs, Denise Johnson, Malinda Carter, Will Welch, Clyde Parmer, Jr., Pam Lawson, Beverly Sloan, Mike Parmer, Dave Welch, Chris Welch, Deb Parmer, Katrina Crafton, Suzy Parmer, Julie Welch, Ricky Parmer, Allison Dossett, and Avery Welch; several great-granchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a daughter, Lillian Patricia Lawson, a granddaughter, Lucretia Ann Wimbs; a grandson, Mark Wallace Lawson; her brothers and sisters, Rev. Hugh Tully, Johnny Tully, George Tully, Spurgeon Tully, Rev. Eustice Tully, Addie Mize, and Annie Mae Lindley.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and family.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
