LILLIAN M. THOMAS
Sherman - Lillian McCarty Thomas, 79, died Sunday, June 4, 2006, at the North Miss. Medical Center after an extended illness. A Starke, Florida native, she was born Sept. 22, 1926, to the late Nick and Gladys Thomas. She was raised in Starke, Fla. and was a longtime resident of Sherman. She was married to the late Walter Earl McCarty, the father of her children, for 24 years, and the late Russell Thomas for 24 years. For 36 years she had been employed with Lift Inc. She was a member of Locust Hill Baptist Church and the Sherman Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Rev. Mike Weaver officiating. Burial will be in the Sherman Cemetery.
Survivors include three children, Jim McCarty and wife, Sherry, of Tupelo, Ann Brown and husband, Harry Dean, of Blue Springs, and Gary McCarty of Sherman; four grandchildren, Brian Brown and wife, Chamila, Matt McCarty and wife, Dawn, Cole McCarty and Heather McCarty, all of Tupelo; three great-grandchildren, Cade McCarty, Jaime Felix and Michael BonZs; one sister Lois Seley of Kissimmee, Fla.; one brother, Wesley Thomas and wife, Bonnie, of Starke, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; one brother, Lesley Thomas; and one sister, Hazel Starling.
Pallbearers will be Brian Brown, Matt McCarty, Cole McCarty, Chad Coker, Jamie Felix and Michael Bonzs.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
