Lillian Estes

Tupelo - Lillian Reedy Sissy Estes died Monday, September 27, 2010, at Avonlea Assisted Living and Retirement Community. She was born March 4, 1914, to Newsom Luther and Purney Lee Scribner Reedy. She was a lifelong resident of Tupelo and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class. A graduate of Tupelo High School, she was employed with Malone and Hyde and retired after 25 years as manager of the Quality Stamp Store. During her employment, she received numerous recognition awards for her exemplary performance. She loved spending time with her family and friends who appreciated her contagious joyful spirit.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. David Jensen and Dr. Gayle Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include four sisters, Geneva Collins of Tupelo, Glynn Servis of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Peggy Curtis (John) of Selmer, Tenn., and Barbara Prude (Cooper) of Tupelo; one brother, John Reedy (Merlene) of Tupelo; one brother-in-law, William "Dub" Cross of Tupelo. She was loved by many nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Walter M. Estes; her son, William Reedy "Bill" Estes; one sister, Dessie Cross; three brothers, Clyde Reedy, Dewey Reedy, and Bill Reedy.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Roger Reedy, Sam Reedy, Tom Collins, Steve Cross, Butch Godwin, Stanley Reedy, Paul Reedy, Steve Urist, and Kelly Cofer.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
