Lewis Calvin Frazier, Jr., 85, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Gore Springs, January 3, 1933, to Louis Calvin and Eunice Minafore Frazier and was reared in the Duck Hill area. On April 13, 1957, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Hill and they shared 51 wonderful years together until her death on July 2, 2008. Early in life, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Later in life, he owned and operated Modern Barber Shop in downtown Tupelo for over 40 years where many enjoyed his quick wit and haircuts. Lewis was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, vegetable gardening and beekeeping. He was a member of the American Legion Post 49 in Tupelo. His favorite thing in the world to do was spend time with his grandson, Nicholas and great-grandson, Owen. He was a long-time faithful member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.
Survivors include one daughter, Julia Houston and her husband, Randy of Tupelo; two sons, Lewie Frazier of Tupelo and Luke Frazier of Birmingham Ridge; two sisters, Ezma Carpenter and Jean Stribling both of Sturgis; two brothers, Johnny Frazier of Grenada, Larry Frazier of Greenville; two grandsons, Nicholas Floyd and his wife, C.J. of Fulton and Blake Houston and his wife, Kendallyn of McKinney, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Owen Floyd and Luke Houston; and one very precious friend for the last seven years, Ms. Betty Long of Tupelo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Opal Warner and Ida Frazier; two brothers, Ronnie Frazier and Lee Frazier; and his beloved mother-in-law, Mrs. Lorine Hill.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Ricky Young officiating. Graveside services will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time Saturday, August 18, 2018, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Pallbearers will be his close friends and members of his Sunday School Class.
