Lester L. Fussell

LESTER L. FUSSELL Tupelo - Lester L. Fussell, 89, died Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House after a lengthy illness. A Jackson, Tennessee native, he was born August 11, 1924 to Lucas and Velma Jennings Fussell. He was raised in Jackson and graduated from Jackson High School. He served with the United States Army Air Corp during WW II. On January 17, 1948, he married the love of his life, Mary Goodin. He and his family moved to Tupelo in 1963. Lester was an engineer with Bell South in Tupelo where he retired after 35 years of service. After retiring, he worked ten years part-time with Mid-South Telephone in Rienzi. He was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 at Tupelo Memorial Park with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Mary Goodin Fussell; his three daughters, Paula F. Westbrook (David) of Jackson, Tennessee, Lesley F. Davis (Steve) of Lebanon, Tennessee and Mary Beth Johnson (Jerry) of Tupelo; one son, Larry D. Fussell (Vicki) of Brewton, Alabama; nine grandchildren, Allison W. Abott (Mark) of Houston, Texas, Steven Westbrook of Martin, Tennessee, Scott Andrew Fussell (Annemarie) of Brenckenridge, Colorado, Brooks Fussell (Lindsey) of Birmingham, Alabama, Jennings Fussell of Brewton, Alabama, Mark Adamec, Jr. of Tupelo, Hilary Adamec of Gallatin, Tennessee, Lucas K. Strange of Tupelo and Larissa Reese of Tupelo; five great-grandchildren, Sophia Baiocco and Samson Baiocco, both of Gallatin, Tennessee, Mariana Abbott of Houston, Texas and Ryan Abbott of Houston, Texas and Chyanne Wommack of Tupelo. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Richard Fussell and Carl J. Fussell. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 at the funeral home.
