Pontotoc - Lera Henderson, 93, died Monday, July 4, 2011, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Mississippi native, she was born October 11, 1917 to Alfred and May Henderson. In 1932, she married Chester Wilton Henderson. She was homemaker and worked for H.I.S. Manufacturing as a seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, baking and cooking. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011 at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Jason Driggers officiating. Burial will be in Camp Ground Cemetery.
Survivors include six children, Wilton Allen Henderson of Mt. Home, Ark., Chester Vamon Henderson (Elsie) of Pontotoc, Louis Lamar Henderson (Joyce) of Scott, Ark., Rose Brooks (Jim)of Saltillo, Aubrey Henderson of Pontotoc, and Lester Wayne Henderson of Little Rock, Ark.; nine grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; her twin sister, Era, other sisters, Lorene, and Ona; her brothers, Lester, Ottie, Cortis, Stanley, Bill, Moody, and Johnny
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
