LELAND "DICK" TURNER Tupelo - Leland Earl Turner, 82, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A lifelong native of North Mississippi, he was born October 13, 1933 to Raymond Franklin and Zelma Robbins Turner. He was a graduate of Pine Grove High School. Dick married the former Elsie Mavouline Bray in 1954. In 1955 and1956, he served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Midsouth Packers, in the shipping department and also at Harrisburg Baptist Church as their custodian. Dick was an avid hunter and fisher, and loved watching baseball especally the Atlanta Braves. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until 8 p.m Thursday, May 5, 2016 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at Lee Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Mavouline Turner of Tupelo; one brother, James Turner (Sharron) of New Albany; one brother-in-law, Novel Hollis (Sheryl) of Tacopola and nieces and nephews.
