Lela Rae Reeves
SALTILLO - Lela Rae Reeves, 82, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born July 22, 1924, in Mississippi to Henry Brown and Minnie Akers Brown. She was a retired seamstress for Reed's, Lucky Star and Lee Sportswear. She was a member of Barnes Crossing Baptist Church. She enjoyed growing flowers and spending special time with her family and grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Horace Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Winfred Reeves of the Old Saltillo Road; one daughter, Glinda Horton (Tommy) of the Old Saltillo Road; one son, Ray Reeves (Peggy) of the Old Saltillo Road; one sister, Ruby Reeves of the Old Saltillo Road; one brother, Sam Brown (Earnestine) of Frankstown; six grandchildren, Tammi Reeves Knott (Allen) of Hackelburg, Ala., Sonya Hanna (Jermey) of Booneville, Christi Horton of Old Saltillo Road, Chris Horton (Dana) of Birmingham Ridge, Dean Perry Jr. (Kim) of Wren and Kimberly Ray (Jimmy) of Nettleton; 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mae Stephens; and two infant brothers, Nathaniel and George Washington Brown.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Horton, Chris Horton, Dean Perry Jr., James Reeves, Hoyt Pitts and John McClung.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Saltillo Chapel.
