Saltillo—Lela Dunaway Hutcheson passed away at her home on March 25, 2023 surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born August 29, 1941 in Lee County to Ben Dunaway and Ressie Mae Mink Dunaway. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She knew Jesus Christ as her Savior who died on the cross for the redemption of our sins, raised by God on the third day, and now sits at the right hand of God.
Lela is survived by her daughters, Ginger Wiscour and her husband Grant of Tupelo and Beverly Morgan and her husband, Phil, of the Pratt Community; two granddaughters, Anna Sherrill and her husband, Stephen, of Tupelo, and Tara Gaddis and her husband, Marshall, of Washington, D.C.; three great-grandsons, Jack, Luke, and James Gaddis; her brothers and sisters she loved so much, Lola Leblanc, Sue Mullinex and Preston, Franklin Dunaway and Shirley, Mike Dunaway and Belinda, Donnie Dunaway and Lynda, Ronnie Dunaway andSharon, Rocky Dunaway and Ginger; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Mary Anne McDaniel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Ressie Mae Dunaway; a sister, Lila Needham; and three brothers, Andy Brazeal and L.B. and Foy Dunaway.
The family will honor Lela’s memory with a private memorial service at a later date. Pegues Funeral Directors has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society.
