LEE ROY BALLARD
Plantersville - Lee Roy Ballard, 90, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born Nov. 21, 1915, in the Ballardsville community to the late Virgal and Mary Jane McCarty Ballard. He was retired as a superintendent over construction for the Alabama Power Co. He was a longtime member of the Unity Presbyterian Church east of Plantersville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Unity Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Lewis Norowetz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Hazel Birmingham Ballard; two daughters, Nancy Custred and husband, Clifford, of Birmingham, Ala., and Betty Elliott of Orlando; one son, Douglas Ballard of Atlantis, Fla.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be Brent and Lance Elliott, Mark, Bradley and Mitchell Custred, Larry and Jason Copus.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Unity Presbyterian Cemetery Fund.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the church.
