LAVERT "SLIM" WILSON
Tupelo - Lavert Wilson, 81, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1936 to L. C. and Vergie Olean Oliver Wilson. He worked as an auto mechanic at Slim Texaco. Lavert greatly enjoyed the outdoors and was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Martha Fleming Wilson of Fulton; sons, Steve Wilson (Tina) of Tupelo, Terry Wilson of Fulton and John Wilson (Renee) of Tupelo; sisters, Mary Ann (James) of Baldwyn, Barbara Jean Coggins of Guntown and Sarah (Mark) of Connecticut; brother, James Buddy" Wilson (Pattie) of Greenville, Texas; grandchildren, Carissa Anderson (Daniel), Holly Wilson, Madison Wilson; great-grandchildren, Vincent, Deryk and Jeffery Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, son, Ronnie Dale and granddaughter, Chasity Wilson.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Dale Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Belden Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Terry Wilson, Daniel Anderson, Stevie Lair, Michael Collins, Larry Collins and Joe McCoy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry and Ray Stanford, Vince, Deryk and Jeffery Anderson, Maddie Wilson and Joey and Rachel Lair.
