LAVERNE MONAGHAN Murfreesboro - LaVerne Cady Monaghan 88, died Friday, December 06, 2013 at Northside Healthcare Center in Murfreesboro, TN where she resided for a short time. Mrs. Monaghan was born in Selmer, TN to the late Verne and Edith Carothers Cady. She resided in Lee County since her teens. She was co-owner of Vernon's Steakhouse with her husband, Vernon Monaghan who preceded her in death in December of 1985. They had been married since February of 1947. She was a longtime member of Harrisburg Baptist Church. Services will be Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 11:00am at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. David Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include sons, Daniel Monaghan and wife, Sherry of Amory; Steve Monaghan of Chicago, Ill; daughter, Susanne Waters and husband, Billy of Murfreesboro, Tenn; grandchildren, Matt Monaghan and wife, Vickie of Sacramento, Ca; Zack Waters and wife, Sandie of Murfreesboro, Tenn; Chas Monaghan and wife Marjie of Blue Mountain; Ashley Strebe and husband Paul of Murfreesboro, Tenn; Sara Camp and husband, Jason of Amory; Caleb Monaghan and wife Kerri of Fort Worth, Texas; ten great grandchildren; brother, Jimmy Cady of Meridian; sister, Betty Sue Mabus of Tremont and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Luke Monaghan, brothers, Waldo, Jerry, and Tommy Cady. Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm, Monday, December 09, 2013 at the funeral home.
