LAVERNE CLAYTON Tupelo - Jewel Laverne Clayton, 83, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Courtyards Community Living Center. She was born July 6, 1932 to William "Bill" Murphy and Doshia Ann Robbins Farrar. She worked for a while at Elvis Presley's Birth Place, but Laverne was most proud of being a homemaker and taking care of children. She loved family gathering and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of East Heights Baptist Church. Visitation will be 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, and one hour prior to service time Saturday, June 11, 2016, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Nathan Fitts officiating. Burial will be in Belden Cemetery. Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Clayton of Tupelo; grandchildren, Farrar Kelly of Tupelo and Paul Wayne Green of Mooreville; great-grandchildren, Trinity Jewel Hare, Baylee Hitchcock and Madison Ann Green. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul Clayton; brothers, Charles, Murphy and James Farrar and sister, Evon Richey. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Richey, Don Knight, Jacky Hare, Terry Green, and Tommy Farrar and David Cernigliaro. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Farrar, Curt Frensley, Guy Harris, Rhettford and Grayson Puckett and the employees of Courtyards Community Living Center. Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.peguesfuneralhome.com .
