LAVELLE MALLORY

Verona - LAVELLE MALLORY, 77, died Thursday, August 9, 2007, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. She was born in Okolona August 9, 1930 to the late William C. and Ludie Agnes Galloway Mason. The last of six children, she and her husband, Jacob Mallory, Sr., lived over 50 years in the Pontocola/Shannon Community. She is remembered for opening her home to the many children of the community for whom she babysat and the wonderful meals she cooked for her friends and family. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting, flower gardening and cooking. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. George Aston and Rev. Billy Langley officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Jacob Mallory of Verona; one daughter, Patsy Mattox of Verona; four sons, John Herndon and wife, Margie, of Saltillo, Jacob Mallory, Jr., and wife, Venetia, of the Old Union Community, Lynn Mallory of Verona, and Gerald Mallory and wife, Linda, of Pontocola; eight grandchildren, Dr. Michael Herndon and wife, Anne, of Jacksonville, Ala., Lori Moses and husband, Jason, of Smyrna, Ga., Tangi Bobo and husband, Timmy, of Fulton, William Martin of Guntown, Craig Martin and wife, Shannon, of Guntown, Christopher Mallory, Lauren Mallory both of Old Union, and Amber Willhite of Pontocola; eight great-grandchildren, John Michael Herndon, Brooke Elizabeth Herndon, Kayla Timmons, Tyler Timmons, Cassie Dunaway, Blake Martin, Dylan Martin, and Evan Martin.

Pallbearers will be William Martin, Craig Martin, Danny Harville, Timmy Bobo, Michael Herndon, Danny Bobo, Christopher Mallory, and Mickey Payne.

Visitation will continue Saturday until service time.
