Lavelle Dillard
TUPELO - Lavelle Parker Dillard, 89, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at Beverly Health Care in Tupelo after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 28, 1916, to John and Lou Ella Turner Harris. She was a longtime resident of the Marietta community. Mrs. Dillard was a retired seamstress and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. She was an avid cat lover, especially her cat, Tom. She was the widow of LeRoy Parker and James Dillard.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Jackie Laney officiating. Burial will be in Keyes Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Robert Dillard of Sherman; five grandchildren, Rickie Parker, Randy Parker, Robbin Morse, Renee Wright and Ronnie Parker; five great-grandchildren, Johnny Parker, Chloe Parker, Megan Parker, Savannah Wright and Sabrina Wright; her special nieces and caregivers, Nona McBunch and George of Amory, Carlene Spigner and Carlton of Marietta, and June Phillips and Mike of Tupelo; one nephew, Eddie Huffman of Nettleton.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; one son, Johnny Parker; one grandson, Ryan Parker; three brothers, Elzie Harris, Arnold Harris and Lee Harris; and her twin sister, Adelle Huffman.
Pallbearers will be Randy Benson, Quitman Harris, Kenneth Harris, Eddie Huffman, Dwight Burt and Mike Phillips.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today.
