Larry Skinner

April 22, 1947 — February 1, 2019

Tupelo - Larry Mitchell Skinner, 71, died Friday, February 1, 2019, at Saint Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Larry was born in Prairie April 22, 1947, to the late Barry Mitchell and Corrilla Jo Skinner.  He was an Eagle Scout and followed his love for scouting as a Counselor and Scout Master with Troop 99 in Verona.  He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Bon Homme Richard. Larry was a devoted Christian, husband, father and grandfather.  He was a hard worker having retired from both Super Sagless and Cooper Tire, and was currently a loyal worker at Sam's Club. He loved to fish and hunt, and spend time outdoors. He was also an avid MSU fan who never missed watching a game. He was a member of Lawndale Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Una Skinner; his sons, Chris Skinner of Okolona and Will Skinner of Tupelo; his grandchildren, Alex Coggins, Kaleb Coggins and Geovannie Wright all of Tupelo; his sister, Mary Ann Bishop of Blue Mountain; his nephew, Andy Brotherton of Atlanta, Georgia; and his "honorary" granddaughter, Chrissy Raines and her husband, Kevin and their daughter, Faith of Pontotoc.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Marie Skinner on April 24, 2012; his parents, Barry and Corrilla Skinner; and his brother, Bill Skinner.

Visitation will be 4 until 7 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2019 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.

Services honoring his life will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2019 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Bill Bradford officiating.
