Old Union Community- Larry Murrah Rowland, 73, died Saturday, July 28, 2018, in the hospice unit at North Mississippi Medical Center, surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. He was born in New Albany, August 13, 1944, to Clevis Hollis and Orion Elaine Murrah Rowland and moved to Tupelo early in his childhood. On February 20, 1965, he married Frances Burleson and they enjoyed 53 years together. Shortly after their son was born, he and his family moved to the Old Union Community, where they resided the rest of his life. Larry was a talented glass glazier and had spent many years with both Creative Glass and Tupelo Aluminum Products. Earlier in life, he enjoyed hunting all area game and later in life, developed a passion for vegetable, fruit and berry gardening. He especially loved his 7 year old miniature pinscher, "Pepper". Larry attended Old Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Dennis Larry Rowland and his wife, Kristy of Old Union; one brother, Lynn Rowland and his wife, Donnie of Saltillo; and two grandchildren, Megan Rowland Benefield and her husband, Cole of Mooreville and Joshua Rowland of Old Union.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until service time Monday, July 30, 2018 at Old Union Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be 5 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2018, at Old Union Cemetery with Rev. Bob O'Neal, Rev. Gregg Thomas and Rev. Excail Burleson officiating.
