TUPELO - Larry "Alfalfa" McKissick, 59, died Friday, March 14, 2008, at his Tupelo residence after a lengthy illness. Born in Nettleton, he was a retired driver of 17 years with Action Transport of Tupelo and a Baptist.
A Vietnam veteran of 91-2 years in the U.S. Navy, he was a flight engineer on the U.S.S. Roosevelt and the U.S.S. Tuscany. He love fishing and riding and working on motorcycles, and was a NASCAR fan.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors in Tupelo.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Pegues with the Rev. Billy Wayne Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery south of Plantersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Russell McKissick and Eva Lavelle Bacon.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Teresa McKissick of Tupelo; a daughter, Tracie Daly (John), Brunswick, Mass.; sons, Dana McKissick (Rita), Scotts Valley, Calif., Dan McKissick and Mike Williams of Tupelo; daughters, Pat Bridges (Jim) of the Skyline community, Sandra Miles (Mike) of Mooreville; a life-long friend, Robert Jamison of Tupelo; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby, Buddy and Phil McKissick, Danny Arnold, Mike Miles and Jim Bridges.
